Before founding Backgear Labs, Ali spent seven years on the front lines of institutional lending—originating over $400 million in closed retail mortgage volume at Rocket Mortgage, managing wholesale B2B broker operations at United Wholesale Mortgage, and structuring complex deals as an active loan officer.
Living inside high-volume, compliance-heavy pipelines taught him a simple truth: most business software is built by people who have never had to close a deal or clear a bottleneck with it. Today, Ali designs multi-model AI orchestration systems that subject every build to adversarial review, strict cost caps, and automated verification—bringing institutional-grade discipline to custom software.
