Who we are and what this covers

Backgear Labs LLC, a Michigan company, operates this public website at backgearlabs.com. This notice covers visits to the public site and the project inquiry form. Builder Access links to a separate, restricted workspace. The public site does not create accounts or collect sign-in credentials.

Information we receive

When you visit, our hosting and security providers may process IP addresses, browser and device information, referring URLs, and request timestamps to deliver and protect the site.

If you submit a project inquiry, we receive your name, email, organization, project details, budget range, and timing, along with any role, website, phone number, or other details you choose to provide. Please leave out passwords, customer records, financial or medical records, and other sensitive information. The form uses a short-lived security cookie and sends a keyed identifier derived from your IP address to our private inquiry system for abuse prevention.

How we use and share information

We use technical information to deliver and secure the site. We use inquiry information to evaluate your project and respond to you. Where EU or UK data protection law applies, these purposes may rely on our legitimate interests in operating and securing the site and responding to business inquiries, or on taking steps at your request before entering a contract, where applicable.

ChatGPT Sites provides hosting and Cloudflare provides edge security. Inquiry details are sent from our public server to our restricted Sales Desk for review. The public form does not send submissions to an AI model. We do not sell personal information, share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, or allow advertising trackers on this site. We may disclose information when required by law.

Cookies and browser signals

We use essential security technologies and a first-party cookie to remember the choices you make. No optional analytics, preference, or marketing technologies are active. We honor Global Privacy Control as an opt-out of sale or sharing for targeted advertising and keep marketing disabled when the signal is present. The site does not change its behavior in response to the older Do Not Track signal. When we receive Global Privacy Control, marketing remains off even if you select Accept All. See the cookie inventory below.

Retention, security, and location

We retain inquiry information as needed to respond, evaluate and follow up on the request, and meet applicable legal obligations. Browser cookie durations are listed in the cookie inventory. Inquiry submissions use HTTPS and server-side form checks and are routed to a restricted workspace. Backgear Labs operates from the United States, where inquiries may be handled, including when submitted from another country.

Your privacy choices

Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your information, to object to or restrict certain processing, or to appeal a decision or complain to your privacy regulator. Email legal@backgearlabs.com to make a request or ask a question. We may need to verify that a request concerns your information. Use Cookie settings to change or withdraw optional choices.

Children

This site is intended for a general business audience and is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 submitted personal information, contact us so we can review and remove it as appropriate.
